Ok - here is the change log:

Has the nvram corruption issues been fixed?? Will iptables be corrupt after the upgrade?? Will logging stop working?? Will backup and restore work??

I really hesitate to load this until this has been addressed

    Just flashed the 8/23 build..

Any reason why the build data in SysInfo shows 9/22 ??

I would really feel better if Brainslayer would talk about the nvram corruption/iptables corruption issues..

His loyal followers/users out here NEED to know when, if ever, this will be fixed

i just have no nvram or iptables corruption and no one telled me what he really means with that.

  5. BrainSlayer

    BrainSlayer Network Guru Member

oh wait. your nvram is corrupt after upgrade? okay i sleep a little bit more. or should i explain why

okay, now something about the flash structure

bootloader - kernel - filesystem - nvram - jffs space

new let us say we flash a new firware which is a little bit bigger than the old one. what happends?
i dont wait for the answer, nvram will be overwritten by the filesystem and thats the reason. this is not fixable. just follow my rule. always reset your router after flashing

    Well lets see

    1) Load firmware. Hardware reset to defaults
    2) enable filters - look at iptables
    3) enable logging - look at iptables
    4) save config to file
    5) httpd crashes - must reset router
    6) logging stops
    7) display iptables - no entries

ONLY FIX is factory reset - AGAIN

Tell me what you need to see - I am not the only one with these issues

The problems happen after a config save to file, not after an upgrade

    V23 9/32 build

Firefox 1.07 - save settings button works intermittently

    IE^ - no problem

  9. bigjohns

is that in addition to your other problem? or was that fixed with the last build?

  10. dellsweig

    dellsweig Network Guru Member

    No

Now in addition to the previous list, enableing SNMP causes logging (both GUI and Syslog) to stop. Iptables --list before enabling SNMP and after enabling SNMP show BIG differences.

Also: Access restrictions - keywords and url no longer work

) Load firmware. Hardware reset to defaults
    2) enable filters - look at iptables
    3) enable logging - look at iptables
    4) save config to file
    5) httpd crashes - must reset router
    6) logging stops
    7) display iptables - no entries

ONLY FIX is factory reset - AGAIN

If I enable "Use DNSMasq for DHCP" via telnet, nothing shows up under DHCP Client List. Is this by design?

Are we the only ones seeing these problems??

I understand this is Beta level code - maybe it should be downgraded back to alpha level??

Come on - enabiling SNMP causes IP taboes corruption?? Config file saves crash stuff?? Loggng erratic??

    Whats going on??

I will say if I dont touch anything - and build a clean router - it stays up and throughput isgood.

Also, if I chose "optimize for game" under QoS, the "BitTorrent" service gets deleted permanently, and I can't seem to add it back whether that option is chosen or not.

    You are wrong!

    Negative!!

I have Optimize for Gaming ENABLED
and I have 16 different services with different priorities including Bittorrent. QoS IS working correctly.

    Hardware: WRT54GS v1.0 | v23.09.05 build

about the config save/http crash issue

i think all people with this issue are using the voip version on a g router model. if you look into the console and type "free" you should find the answer why its crashing.

What is this QoS-Gaming setting really for? I only needed to bulk p2p-protocols and there was no lag while playing online (35ms answer-time while downloading).

There are many of us out here who can offer pretty detailed and technical help - if you want it.

These problems reported here are pretty serious - they effect filtering, logging, stability as well as features.

If you need some help fixing these - PLEASE let us know.
If you are currently working on any of these specifics, let us know as well so we can move on looking for other issues.

Can anyone tell me what version of DD-WRT is most stable? It seems everyone is having problems and I just want something that works.

After testing some versions i switched back to 19092005. It seems to be the most stable (uptime ~ 5 day now) and the wireless connection is stable, too. On 21st there were many disconnects.

latest version (23.09.05) looks stable for my wrt54gs v1.0
there are upnp issues with azureus (by the way no problems with limewire upnp....)
its Stable for an average user.... (browsing, chat, playing online games, etc... )

when i put a file in the directory jffs, i have a message that no space left on the device

use the mini version for g units and do not use the 23.09 version if you want jffs support. 26.09 is already available

I am already on 26/09, i just need to put a splash page on jffs, on version 21/09 and before it was possible
