Very slow wired connection with WRT55AG

I've set up a WRT55AG router (using a cable connection) with my main PC and a wireless G connection with a second computer. The wireless connection seems to work fine, but the download speed on the wired connection is astonishing slow. (Approx. 1/10 the normal speed). I tried Linksys' directions for setting up a static IP, but all that hasn't helped. Any advice?

try setting to manual 1500, save settings, then reboot router. other thing is try replacing your cables incase they are damaged

Thanks. No luck with either solution, I'm afraid.

Try to put a switch between the router and what you use to go on internet
