    hi guys.
before starting, i have literally called tech support on linksys literally 25+ times. I I get the same answer everytime so im trying this out.

My issue is i get common instability with my internet connection. my ISP is COX communications and everything works perfect with it, therefore knowing its the router forsure. I have my Vista computer running on port 1, My XP computer running on port 2, and my xbox360 live on port3; which of course all wired. I cannot seem to find the problem and ive tried 50+ into this. I have exchanged my router numerous times through my local retail store and hooked up new wires outside my house for the modem. I tried my old Linksys WRT54GS router and another D-link router with no luck. i cant safely pin point on average how long its unstable, but it would be around 5-10 minutes with perfect connection and goes down. Once it goes down for about 2 minutes, it would go back up. The main computer im using is the vista, which i have disabled ipv6 connection and still no luck. i have disabled every firewall possible. i have the latest firmware downloaded for my router (1.52.2) and this problem started occruing about a week ago. My first usage worked perfectly fine until my xboxlive was hooked up. But even if i dont hook it up now, it still doesnt work.

    any help is greatly appreciated.
    thanks.

I would say use one of your two routers as a switch, turn on nat on your cable modem and connect the router you want to test to the switch and one of your computers. Then run continuous pings from both machines to different spots. 1 from the the computer behind the router and one from your directly connected machine. See if either dies at some point.

When you say the connection through the router stops, does the modem show constant connection, if you log into the router during the time you say its down, does the wan connection from the router show up or down? Can you ping from the router out at that time? Can you surf by ip during that time? What else have you done to test the connection?

when i say the connection through the router stops, the connection through the modem is active, but for some reason, the router is stopping it. I ran the modem directly to my computer and it works effortless. also, the wan connection does not show up when its down. when its down, i cannot surf.

When it goes down do the link lights on the port go out?
