Hey there helpful forum members, I have, as the title suggests, some very basic

questions (I should probably feels stupid for asking them), so here they are:

    1) under "device list" I've noticed that Tomato doesn't choose IP Addresses in order i.e etc.

rather it chooses them in an ascending but random order, i.e, etc.

    Why does it do this?

    2) the IP Addresses seem to be static, e.g When ever the laptop is connected it gets given the same IP Address every time; this is very, very handy, I assume it has been set to do this?

    3) The IP Address of the router under WAN is but the IP Address of the desktop is connected to is (in the device list), so then what is this, is this the external IP Address?

4)Finally, My PS3 is in DMZ, but the DMZ light on the front of the router stays on even when the PS3 is not connected, I hope my whole network is not in DMZ?

and is there any way to make the light switch off when the PS3 is disconnected?

Thanks in advance, and I apologize about the stupid questions:redface:

Tomato's implementation of DHCP bases the address it offers you on the hardware address (the MAC address) of the computer. In this way, it usually ends up offering the same computer the same address every time.

    See Question #1. Precisely.

Yep. This is the address that an external user would use to find you.

Someone else will have to answer the question about the light. But if your PS3 has a static address and it's set to be the DMZ, then it and only it will be the DMZ. No need to worry.

Based on my experiences, the DMZ light comes on whenever an IP addy is set in the DMZ field. It has nothing to do with the computer which uses that IP addy is or is not connected to the router.
