Victek Tomato flash for Linksys E3000?

Had a question. I see 2 different ones. Just bought this router new and waiting for responses before flashing.

    # Tomato RAF 1.28.8656.. ONLY FOR 8MB Flash (MIPSR2.Kernel 2.6) Extended + VPN + USB. Updated February 20th.2011.

    # Tomato RAF 1.28.8672.For Cisco E3000, with USB & VPN features.

Can I flash to the one highlighted in bold? Since it is a newer release? Or should I flash the version that says specifically for E3000? Any issues with the firmware using the E3000? What does the Extended mean in bold? Just more features or something?

1.28.8656 it's the latest one .. but for few hours .. will be replaced in 1-2 days, Tomato RAF is growing :) Extended are RAF features over Tomato-RT from Fedor

Oh okay. So .8656 is safe to flash for the E3000 correct? I just want to make sure since this is brand new router.... Don't want to brick it right off the bat. Is that other version specifically for the E3000 a older version or something?

If you flash first time .. use the older .. 1.28.8672 .. play a while and then you can update to the coming release in 1.2 days.. much better, then you can compare differences between each one :)

    Victek,

I will just go ahead and wait for the new release. Considering the release is just 1-2 days away. Call me lazy. I don't want to input all of my settings again. Since it is new. I want to load the latest and greatest you have. Will be anxiously awaiting new release!

P.S. I am still confused with that specific version for the E3000. When the new release comes out. Will it be specific to the E3000? Or all MIPSR2 routers including the E3000? I am guessing it will be different since the E3000 is dual band and others are single band?

In latest development the size of nvram is autodetected, then, builds will be common for all models following these rules, MIPSR1 or R2 | Flash Size 4MB or 8MB.
Model is autodetected and Dual band| Single band is detected too, Options are visible or hidden.

Sounds great, Victek! I just downloaded the Tomato_RAF-1.28.8900MIPSR2-8MB-VPN.zip file. there's a .bin and a .trx file in the zip file and they are different in size. What's the difference? Which one should I use for RT-N16?

    Thanks.

.trx or .bin are ok for RT-N16, I packed both in case of update E3000 from original Linksys firmware.

1.28.8900 working great so far on my RT-N16. I noticed the Chipset and clkfreq are displaying on the overview page now, but I can't seem to find where to adjust the clkfreq. Was this added, or just the displaying of this infomation on the overview page?

Thanks for another great FW Vic!

Does the the new version work with the E2000? Or is it E3000/E42000/N16 only?

I tried upgrading the original e3000 with the new 9001 build, but I got upgrade failed after a few percent. It apparently rebooted and it still works, but what do I do? I selected the bin file.

edit: Anyone? I have no idea how to actually install the firmware when the firmware upgrade gui thing doesn't work, there is no info in the zip file or on victek's webpage.

Apologies if this been asked already, I've been away from the forum for a while. I just upgraded my E3000 from the previous version to 1.28.8500 "Specific version for E3000, USB + Extended Sysinfo + VPN. Updated March 12th.2011".

    Overview page shows:

    Name Tomato E3000
    Model Linksys E3000
Chipset Broadcom BCM4716 chip rev 1 pkg 10
    CPU Freq 200MHz

Is the 200Mhz merely a display error, or is it really running that slow?
Would I be better off flashing to 1.28.8902?

    Thanks...

The routine to discover cpumhz is working in almost all units I have at home, it shows the real speed .. I don't have a router with BCM4718 CPU to test it. You can see the actual CPU clock speed by entering the command (telnet)

root@RT-N16:/tmp/home/root# nvram show | grep clkfreq
    clkfreq=480,240,120

    then try this command:

    root@RT-N16:/tmp/home/root# cat /proc/cpuinfo
system type : Broadcom BCM4716 chip rev 1 pkg 10
    processor : 0
    cpu model : MIPS 74K V4.0
    BogoMIPS : 239.20
    cpu MHz : 480
    wait instruction : no
    microsecond timers : yes
    tlb_entries : 64
    extra interrupt vector : no
    hardware watchpoint : yes
    ASEs implemented : mips16 dsp
    shadow register sets : 1
    VCED exceptions : not available
    VCEI exceptions : not available

Show us what it says. Thanks!

New Release. 1.28.8501 ready. Update Busybox 1.18.4, fix CPU MHz. Please feedback since I don't have router to test it.

8501 fixes the bandwidth charts not showing for me on my E3000.

For the frequency issue, this is the output:

    nvram show | grep clkfreq:

    Code:
    clkfreq=188

    cat /proc/cpuinfo

    Code:
system type : Broadcom BCM4716 chip rev 1 pkg 10
    processor : 0
    cpu model : MIPS 74K V4.0
    BogoMIPS : 99.73
    cpu MHz : 200
    wait instruction	: no
    microsecond timers	: yes
    tlb_entries : 64
    extra interrupt vector	: no
    hardware watchpoint	: yes
    ASEs implemented	: mips16 dsp
    shadow register sets	: 1
    VCED exceptions : not available
    VCEI exceptions : not available

    unaligned_instructions	: 181

In overview it still says 200MHz... It doesn't matter that much if this is just a display issue, I just want to be sure it's not running under-clocked for some reason...

It should not occur, please do a nvram erase .. to be sure.

    Freeware tomato-E3000USB-1.28.8504MIPSR2_RAF-VPN.bin
In bandwidth,real-time if i click on Limit/Up or WAN or WL or br0 or eth0 or vlan1
then show a short time selected function and is back to Limit/Down.
With Last 24 hours is much better is back to Limit/Down from time to time.

I checked with Google Chrome 10.0.648.204 all run fine, then i checked again with firefox 3.6.17 but now i add in exception-cookies allowed to use cookies for 192.168.1.1 and then all run fine.
Why we must to use the cookies for TomatoRAF ?
    Victek thanks for helps.
