I just ordered a second router (an Asus WL-520GU) to use as a dedicated VPN client. I already have a Buffalo WHR-HP-G54 running Victek's firmware as my main router.

What sort of bandwidth can you get with a VPN client running on these routers?

I just tried a test with my HP-G54, and with the VPN client running the CPU was at around 20% while downloading at 1mbps. At that rate it would max out around 5mbps.

I received the Asus WL-520GU and set it up with Victek's RAF firmware and configured it as a VPN client.

The cpu is at around 50-70% while downloading at 2mbps over the VPN.

    load average: 0.67, 0.70, 0.62

I'm guessing it would max out around 3mbps.

How do other router models handle VPN traffic? Would an Asus N16 make a big difference?
