    here is what I did:
1- attached my usb reader (with 4.0GB mmc card memory)

    2- enabled [Core USB Support+USB 2.0 Support+USB Storage Support+Ext2 / Ext3 File System Support+FAT File System Support+Automount]

what to put in [Run after mounting]?
what to put in [Run before unmounting]?

    3- enabled FTP Server

already formated my mmc card with linux (not sure if formate is ok).
Can I formate it with fat filesystem via windows?

please help me to access my mmc memory card

I'm a total newbie. I want to install this Mod so I can limit bandwidth fairly or restrict on someone downloading all the time. Does this just allow you set upload/download by entering value in KB? like 50kb/sec, etc?

What exactly do we have to reconfigure again when we reset the NVRAM? Do we have to reenter the WEP key and such?

I can just upgrade from any computer via the network web?

What's the difference between the Tomato RAF 1.23.8025.7z format and Tomato RAF 1.23.8505ND.7z format.? Besides Normal and New Drivers?

    I'm using WRT54GL and Tomato 1.21

Still not exactly sure what ND is, but I just flashed to the original.

Good thing I took a screenshot of my settings... I thought I would be screwed.

What would happen if I didn't reset the NVRAM? Would there really be conflicts?

I can't wait to test out the bandwidth limiter.

Hi Victek. I'm a total n00b at this stuff, and was wondering if you could fly over here to set up my router for me? All this searching and reading is really a drag, and it would be really c001 if you would just set it up for me. I'll buy you a beer when you're done!

Well, if you wanna be picky, actually, you need to use a terminal, or some other application with a telnet client, in order to log into the router at which point, yes, you would then have a command prompt.

It would be cool if we can monitor bandwidth of use mac/ip address.

Why did Tomato remove the bandwidth limiter feature? Wasn't that something Tomato had and Vitek just added it back?

    I noticed that with

the webinterface dies after saving DDNS details.
But it may be a single failure, I will look if I can reproduce it

  27. Victek

    Victek Network Guru Member

I think.. did you cleared nvram after upgrade?.. I observed it too and the remedy was to do "as a must" an erase nvram after you upgrade your firmware.

I did nvram erase after upgrading

  29. sandspike

I also noticed some strange behavior on DDNS. It did not update right away, it took about 5 min of hitting refresh every couple of seconds to get it to complete. Normally it takes 5 seconds. It did finally update, but there may be something there.

This is on an ASUS WL-520GU running 1.23.8530 ND + USB.

I upgraded the firmware twice and reset the NVRAM twice.
On the first upgrade, I also experienced a WAN connection problem.
It got an IP, but no clients could connect to the internet. reuploading the firmware solved that.

  30. Victek

    Victek Network Guru Member

sandspike, thanks for the update, about the double upgrade.. it makes no sense and is a pity cause I don't have the WL520GU to reproduce this behavior, anyway, I'm working in a new release with last update made by Teddy_bear (v09)

    WRT54GL overclock cpu to 240mhz. @Tomato 1.22 speedmod
Finally PPPOE connection stay longer than 24hrs.

    i think 54gl can't handle p2p bitcomet, xunlei (~2300 connection) with default 200mhz or 216 mhz.

  33. spicoli

    spicoli LI Guru Member

I think I'm being paranoid. It should be safe up to 250MHz, but I never noticed until after overclocking that my router hums, which I didn't notice before. Maybe its just me being crazy, but I went down to 200MHz again with the buzz still there, so I just went to 225 just as a precaution . I suppose I'll just bump it up to 250 by week's end.

    Vic,

I'm wondering if there's any way you could integrate OpenVPN. I know Roadkill's mod has it, but I prefer what your Mod has to offer, and would love to see an OpenVPN build.

  35. wasp87

    wasp87 Network Guru Member

  37. Victek

    Victek Network Guru Member

As you know the 1.23 RAF releases integrate some of the job done by other colleagues is the forum, the OpenVPN release of Roger is a master piece of integration but unfortunately the available RAM is decreasing and it's a key concern for me (and I think other people). The OpenVPN is under my view a separate release focused for a very specific user segment that don't need other features, then, I think the GUI OpenVPN release is a very good product. Additional features are not required. Here are my two cents.

  38. kenyloveg

    Hi, victek
I'm running your MOD on my WHR2-G54, RAM would never be my problem. It's about 85% free after turn on everything. I used to run that OpenVPN GUI MOD, while i give it up cuz it's kind of complicated for me to connect various devices. But i know there is better VPN solution called OpenSWAN which provide secutiry (IPSEC) and connectivity (no client software needed for most OS). I'm still hopinig someone can compile it and make it happen on Tomato, of course based on your MOD:thumbup:

  39. GhaladReam

    GhaladReam Network Guru Member

RAM would not be an issue for me either.. I have the WRT54GS v2.0 which has 32MB of RAM. My free memory rarely if ever drops below 20MB free. It's up to you, but if you decide to integrate OpenVPN+GUI with all of your Mod's other enhancements (over stock tomato) into a seperate test build, I'd be happy to test.

Also, does anyone know what features in Victek's mod are missing in Roadkill's OpenVPN build? I'm curious to know, I noticed he has the BW limiter and ARP binding, but I didn't see speedmod or conntrack 8192 users mod.

If all those features were wrapped into one (and worked stable) then I'd be a happy man :)

However, just because a router can "technically" use the ND firmware it may not perform better with it. I've found with multiple routers all of which can use the ND version, I get better connectivity and throughput with the non-nd firmwares.

  48. Victek

    Victek Network Guru Member

You're right, the reason for the restricted bandwidth is due to a non complete integration of the ND driver into the firmware, radio a & d band are alive in the actual ND driver and provoke an slowdown in the wireless performance. I think you're the right person to give us a good feedback, update your router with the ND version, test wireless performance and after you got all the statistics (rate, lost packets, bandwidth response, iperf) write these two sentences in the terminal screen (through Telnet):

    Code:
    Tomato v1.23.Dummy_Test_RAF

    BusyBox v1.13.2 (2009-01-17 00:22:31 EST) built-in shell (ash)
Enter 'help' for a list of built-in commands.

    root@WL500GP:# nvram set wl_reg_mode=off
    root@WL500GP:# nvram set wl0_reg_mode=off
    root@WL500GP:# nvram commit
    Commit... done.
And test again versus Intel 2200 b/g cards... please feedback. :), before and after.

  62. Victek

    Victek Network Guru Member

Both are compatible, the IP/MAC limiter is focused on IP/MAC bandwidth limitation and the QoS is focused into application/program/port priorities. Under my POV the most of the problem can be treated globally, this is why IP/MAC limiter cover all most of the issues sharing a connection.

    Vic, another quick question:

    what does this stands for:

    Code:
Jan 20 11:16:34 gizmo user.warn kernel: HTB: quantum of class 10011 is small. Consider r2q change.
Jan 20 11:16:35 gizmo user.warn kernel: HTB: quantum of class 10012 is small. Consider r2q change.
Jan 20 11:16:37 gizmo user.warn kernel: HTB: quantum of class 10013 is small. Consider r2q change.
Jan 20 11:16:38 gizmo user.warn kernel: HTB: quantum of class 10014 is small. Consider r2q change.
Jan 20 11:16:40 gizmo user.warn kernel: HTB: quantum of class 10015 is small. Consider r2q change.

I get it in log every now and then. I assume it has something to do with IP/MAC BW limiter since i have 6 active machines (10010 is missing though, but well).

    It's another thing.
Even if you uncheck "Enable QoS Limit" and want to erase the values it won't work when you'll press the save button.
If you just uncheck "Enable QoS Limit" and keep untouch the values it will work.

When i only had the BW Limiter it didn't work that's why i manually put my conf in the firewall script.

I'm sure something is wrong in the settings, let's check, Did you fixed the IP into static DHCP before set this IP in the IP/MAC limiter? The values for DL/UP speed has been fixed using a tool like speedtest.net instead of using the synchronization values of your connection?. I had same questions at my e.mail and after we checked the system works very good. What I agree for sure is the system can limit the DL speed when you use a multithread downloader manager with more than 10 threads.
Please read IP/MAC limiter manual in the forum.

    Kind regards

  78. peyton

    peyton LI Guru Member

Maybe it's just that point but it sounds strange to me. I always checked with speedtest if the limiter was OK.

I always make it works since my Buffalo (static dhcp, arp binding..).
i'll do a erase nvram and try again.

Update : My mistake ! I know what the problem was.
As I had to config my WRT from scratch I wanted to put an honeypot (1kbps-1kbps-10-1/s) for the only one dhcp address my router give and as it's not a static IP..
    Sorry about that. [IMG]

    peyton,

    1st question...
    http://www.linksysinfo.org/forums/showpost.php?p=329539&postcount=127

2nd question... differences between UPnP and NAT-PMP.. right? Practical case.

Enable UPnP port mapping allows one application to communicate with the router to forward a port without your manual intervention. Some devices do not support Universal Plug and Play (UPnP), so you might still have to forward your ports manually. Disable UPnP if that is the case

Enable NAT-PMP port mapping allows the application to attempt to forward a port with routers that support the NAT port mapping protocol, so, with this firmware release ;).

    Example... http://azureuswiki.com/index.php/NATPMP

    3rd question, yes, you're right.

    2) Whether its beneficial, stability being exempt.

Not sure if this has been asked before, but I have a WRT54GS 2.0 and I've been reluctant to try the ND firmware because I tried it a long time ago (when Tomato first started to include it) and it gave me issues. Have the ND wireless drivers been updated since that release or are they the same? Also, if I upgrade to 1.23.8510ND from 8025, do I have to flush NVRAM? I'd prefer to be able to keep my settings as there's a lot of them.

    Thanks

Thanks Victek, now have 1.23.8510ND on my WRT54G-TM with fully working miniupnp and wireless drivers 4.150.10.5.

Next challenge:- multiple ssid's, can it be done with "wl command", these commands accepted - but don't seem to do anything!

    Code:
    # wl ssid
    Current SSID: "wireless"
    # wl ssid --cfg=2 test
    Setting SSID "test"
    # wl ssid
    Current SSID: "wireless"
    # wl ssid --cfg=2
    Current SSID: "test"

I'm sorry, but can someone give me a quickie link to a) what UPnP server is in normal Tomato builds and b) how/why miniupnp server is/should be better?

    Thanks :)

You're right mstombs, I was recovering some "old" sources dd-wrt, they did multiple SSID with 4.150.10.5 before ... I think there is something lost. By the way, multiple SSID was tested on earlier release build by Teddy_Bear successfully on my test but no SSID broadcast was detected. Let's continue a more relaxed research since we have a full Intel 2200 b/g wireless section in Tomato.

Thanks Victek for the new builds! :)

I have some strange thing going on with my WRT54GS v1.1 right after updating to the 8510ND, though. My power LED is continuously flashing. All the other LEDs are 'normal'.

Everything else seems to be normal, as I can connect to the router, browse the net and all... This never happened in your previous Tomato_RAF_1.23.8505ND build...

As always, I erased its RAM before and after the flash....
    ==========
    UPDATE:

    Fixed!! :)

I flashed back to 8505ND. Cleared RAM and upgraded to 8510ND :)

gsan, let us know wich model router are you using, I tried to reproduce your issue, the firmware works ok on WRT54GL, look for images, before and after measurement.

once clicked and after radio measurement floor level.. back to the screen and after 3-5 sec...

I can confiirm the same as 'gsan'. Performed 'Measure' from a wireless client - the wireless never came back up - had to reboot the router. (Possibly the same result if doing a Wireless Survey - I'll confirm and report back). ** Confirmed **

    (Great firmware BTW :) )

I could not reproduce the Noise floor measure 'bug' reported by gsan and badders as well. It works well on my WRT54GS v1.1

AFAIK, once you measure, your wireless device/s will get disconnected but will reconnect after 2-3 secs - at least that's what always happens to me.

If my memory serves me right, this glitch happened in vanilla builds 1.19 (? any one can correct me though...) but was later corrected in the later builds. Since then all is working just fine.

OK - I'll move this forward by upgrading to 1.23.8510ND and re-testing - thanks for checking Toink. I'll be back in a day or so.

gsan, what router do you have?
