I asked a similar question in the teddy_bear thread, however asking here again because I'm not sure whether victek maed any other changes to the usb mod.

If I plug in a flash drive to the 1.23.8620 Asus router, can I install OpenVPN (optware), and also make the flash drive a Windows share with NTLMv2?

    many thaks

I'm using the same tree as TB built, only RAF features are merged, so, what TB said about these features it's aplicable in the RAF version too. :)

I use Tomato RAF 1.23.8620 ND + USB + RAF mod TB Version for ASUS USB Router + IP/MAC Limiter RAF version on Asus WL-520GU. All but IP/MAC limiter is working. If IP/MAC limiter is enabled there is no connection to internet. If disable then all works !

Have you read the forum before asking ;)?
Vsftpd is built in into the USB Mod here, and I believe it's also included into the latest Victec's 8620 ND USB+RAF mod as well. And you can use swap file on USB drive with any of these 2 USB supporting mods...

m0d13r, in fact what TB said to you is the features implemented in the 8620 release can be redirected to another device (in this case the SDHC), so, we are talking the same target.

so are there gonna be ftp server and samba like in TB mod in your new SD-RAF Victek?

  10. Victek

    Victek Network Guru Member

Yes, this is the reason for the delay, if I integrated the SDHC mod there is no added value to use RAF version.. thought? :)

Oh, I've been to your site dozens of times over the past several months, and have used a couple different builds of your mod.

My question is, what are "all the standard features of the Tomato RAF version" that you mention on your website? Presumably, these features are incorporated into your mod, but what are they and what mod do they come from?

Oh!!! Ya know what, I just realized: are you referring to your Victek mod as the "RAF Mod by Victek?"

RAF is just what you call your own build that incorporates things from other builds/mods?

I've always just thought of your mod/build as the Victek mod, not the RAF mod by Victek.

    Thanks for clarifying!

I think I'm almost at the point where I wanna try your build again, given the inclusion of Mini UPnPd and the fact I just got a new WRT54G-TM router which allegedly overclocks quite well.

BTW, is the Mini UPnPd service in your build controlled through the same UPnP page in the web gui? That is to say, does the "Enable UPnP" checkbox in the web gui turn on/off the Mini UPnPd service?

Thanks again for all your work!

    Hello!

I'm not sure if I remembered it correctly. In using your older builds, when I change the router's IP address, for example from, 192.168.11.1 to 192.168.1.1, the IP address Range auto adjusts from 192.168.11.100 - 192.168.11.XXX to 192.168.1.100 - 192.168.1.XXX as well as the the Static IP Addresses. Now however I have to set each of them manually....

Is it still possible to not do it manually? This is very helpful if one has more than 30 static IP addresses...

    Thanks, Victek! :)

kardzz - it does not block up with open ports after they are no longer in use - there is an auto-expire function. Also, uses NAT-PMP as well as UPnP. You'll love it ....

Vick, I love the latest mod. NAT-PMP works great, I just wish more software fully supported it. Funny thing is, since it's backed by Apple, I expected iChat to fully support NAT-PMP and automagically open all the necessary ports for vid/audio chatting (normally requires manually entering 7 different port forward ranges to cover all vid/aud chatting and file transferring), but it doesn't. It only appears to open one port.

EDIT: Actually, after some more testing, I think it is fully mapping all the required ports for vid/aud chat in iChat, as well as file transfer ports, for both AIM and Google/Jabber protocols. Damn, this is nice!

    Vic,

Will you be adding your newest features (such as NAT-PMP) into the non-ND, non-USB version? I'm currently using a WRT54GS 2.0 (corerev 7) and I've noticed that the ND and USB folks have gotten a couple extra features.. Just wondering!

Also, I've been reading up on ND and was wondering if anyone else with corerev=7 has used ND, and if it's stable? I've been thinking of switching to it, as I've heard some people with corerev < 9 have had some success.

    Thanks

I believe it already is incorporated into the non-ND version. The second thing on his features list says "Mini UPnPd."

    Hi there,

I just installed this mod and tested the IP/MAC BW Limiter, it works great with http-downloads, BUT:

it doesn't work very well with bittorent in my case. That means if I start a download with µtorrent for example, this download gets almost all of the bandwidth (70-80%) and the other computers get the rest, even though for this case both of them should get 50%. As said, downloading from http - no problem -> 50% each.

Can you tell me if there's anything I could do about that?

assailant, Thanks for testing this mod, a simple question, did you activate the obfuscation capability in your P2P program.
Also, did you fixed the maximum number of connection UDP/TCP? If posible set as 200-300 máx connection. Your experience will help me a lot since I didn't test P2P behaviour with IP/MAC limiter.

No, I read beta 1.24 released to some member in the forum but no clue about new Tomato version (Im expecting too).
Integration of BB 1.13.3 only makes sense if new features or bugs will be corrected but till now BB 1.12.3-4 seem very stable under my experience.

You can send an e.mail to Jon about, he's usually answering.

tenkuken, this thread is not for your question. I don't give support how to compile Tomato.

You must prepare the environment in you Linux to compile the sources, read some post using the function "Search" in the forum, how to "compile Tomato", I think you need to change bash in your Ubuntu distro.

Victek, For your IP/BW limiter function, is it possible to make the limits (%) percentage of available bandwidth? Reason I want this is I run a script that changes my BW after I've breached limits {virgin media ISP}, so a % number will make everything dynamic for me when i switch between different dl/ul limits.
Also, I've read your manual but don't understand how to have a default class for IP/machines I've not listed. Pls could you PM me instructions on how to allow PC's not listed and allow them a default bandwidth.
    thx

  46. Victek

    Victek Network Guru Member

Don't need to list a PC, just enter the IP address, the ARP binding it's intended to denied access to listed IP/MAC (better to write MAC). If you need to limit by % then you can use the standard QoS, unfortunately it's only allowed to download.

    You welcome

    Thanks.

  48. Victek

    Victek Network Guru Member

Sure, (then I fix this subject for the forum since I saw many question about it..)

    The Option ARP Binding:

As you know the IP network layer uses a four byte address, the Ethernet link layer uses a six byte MAC address.
Binding these two address types together permit the transmission of data between the layers. Two types of IP to MAC address bindings or entries are supported:

    a) Static binding that can be created from the option ARP Binding or,
    b) Dynamic binding are IP to MAC bindings that are learned (trained) dynamically and are distributed by the Address Resolution Protocol (ARP). These dynamic bindings are deleted from the ARP cache if there is no transmission activity or if they are not refreshed within the timeout period.
The dynamic bindings are stored in an ARP cache. One timer starts when a new binding is entered for the first time in the ARP cache. The timer is reset when that binding is updated or when a packet is sent to the entry's IP/MAC address.

If the timer expires, the binding is removed from the ARP cache.

If you like to do it manually then enter MAC and IP in to this option (ARP Binding), then you configure an static binding of an IP/MAC address pair into the ARP cache, otherwise, untick the option.

    Limit unlisted machines

Machines which are not in this list when this option is active will not be able to navigate. Simple as it.

    Regards

i always clear NVRAM before and after each upgrade... I'll try to reflash again and let you know. Thank you again for always being ready to help out

    no need to get bitchy

I would suggest a quick edit. Victek does a very good job of and puts a great deal of effort into trying to communicate from his native language, Spain's Spanish, to English. So I'd give him a bit of wiggle room there before you get to making judgements about his mood....

    Hey toast....

Been around. Been busy. With all the budget issues going on in the US, state budgets for services running out, people are moving their loved ones over to hospice for care. Hospice is a medicare benefit hence federal funding. So while state care agencies are dropping patients and staff like hot potatoes, we're quite busy with new admissions and need to hire folks. It'll work for awhile for these families but at some point if they aren't actually dying, medicare will ask they be discharged.

victek's mod has been so stable that once I uploaded it, configured it for a few things, its really been kinda boring.

thanks again Vic! but im still confused about Tx power change - ive already changed country to Europe and transmit power to 100 but still no change at all. am i missing something?

Europe is limited to 80mW so your not using the whole 100mW. You need to select US to be able to use up to 251mW of Tx power.

Hey gingernut, we meet again? ;).

Badders44, Thanks for testing the release.

jsmiddleton4, from time to time it's nice to upgrade without problems, but we are upgrading very interesting thing and complicate modules not visible to the user. Teddy Bear and other are doing an excellent job.

Just remember that cranking up the power is not a quick fix. You may not see a great deal of difference. You may. But you may not. As you crank up the power, you crank up the noise as well.

What is the difference between "Masquerade" and "SNAT (Source Network Address Translation)" under Firewall -> NAT Target?

hey, sorry for my delayed answer ;)
first, I'm not sure what you mean by "obfuscation capability". If you mean something like encryption of outgoing traffic in bittorrent (like µtorrent has it), I have that enabled, but that's only für upstream, not downstream I think.

second, I haven't set max. connections, but the problem occured even with 1 bittorrent download with only a few (<10) connections. Furthermore, my µtorrent has a connection limit of about 200 itself, so I don't think of that as a problem, do you?

I hope you can get some useful hints out of my little information :)
