    Hi all,

    I've got a dilemma... I bought a Viewsonic VS10407 802.11g AP/bridge/repeater

    It has the following ICs:
    Broadcom BCM4712KPB
    ISSI IS42S32299B-6T
    Intel TE28F160
IC IP101 // 0433515 // FJG4993.1 (not sure which of those numbers is the actual ID)
Broadcom BCM2050KML (this I assume is the actual wireless part.. it has a clip on metal shield over the top, and the antenna connects to it)

The unit is a little bigger than a pack of cigarettes with 1 antenna, 1 ethernet port, and 1 power port. It has a reset button, and 3 LEDs (Power, WLAN, Link/ACT).

It seems to have the same parts as a Linksys WRT54G v2.0 (except for only having 1 ethernet port). Is there anyway I can get a linksys firmware onto it?

I'm at work right now and can post some pictures when I get home...

    waiting for someone to try...

But i have seen on openwrt.org that someone was able to openwrt on it no problem. I'm just waiting for someone to try to flash it with sveasoft freya, linksys, or hyperwap. I notice that the chipset on the linksys 54 wap is the same chipset. But checking the openwrt showed some trouble so i'm going to wait till some brave soul tries to flash it. The viewsonic firmware is horrible, it's very buggy and i lose connection after a couple hours and of course no firmware updates from viewsonic.

    Working VS10407 and WAP54g F/W!

After a little google searching I took the plunge to update my WAPBR-100(VS10407) since that firmware blows.

As stated at OpenWRT I was able disable firmware header checking via I disabled the f/w header went back home and updated the device with WAP54g FW.

I thought at first the device was dead since the WLAN led didn't come back on.
Then I checked google for the default IP of the WAP54g which is and that worked, so far I tested the unit as an AP Client this works no issues yet.

This is also interesting because I have an ASUS WL-530g router and the WAP54g firmware states:

Note: When set to "AP Client" and "Wireless Bridge" mode, this device will only communicate with another Linksys Access Point (WAP54G). When set to "Wireless Repeater" mode, this device will only communicate with another Linksys Access Point (WAP54G) and Linksys Wireless-G Router (WRT54G).

I will also try updating the post when I get around to testing other features of the firmware, AP, Repeater and Bridge.

I would like to thank curto and anyone else who helped at OpenWrt to find out the hardware specifics of the VS10407.
Without some of their findings, I would have still been skeptical.

This is a big thing especially if you can find these cheap.

This firmware works also, it is version 2.07 from linksys with some mods for performance.

I've only tested AP client with this as well.

Sorry for the utter-newbie question, but do I need to do anything to the hyperwap.org firmwire file before using it to flash the VS10407? I disabled the FW header checking, as noted. When I try to upgrade the firmware, it reports "Error during upgrade" and continues functioning as before. Any reason why this process should be different on a Mac?

Quick follow-up. I had no luck installing the Hyperwap firmware, but the Linksys 3.04 firmware worked fine. Holding down the reset button on the unit seems to accomplish nothing: anyone know how to reset it otherwise, just in case?
