After weeks of trying to get QuickVPN 1.2.5 to work with Vista to remote RV042 (firmware, I found this posting on the Linksys support forum on how to establish a VPN connection using the VPN/PPTP Server tab.

I was able to get it working from the instructions in less than 5 minutes. (I don't know what the pros and cons of PPTP vs. QuickVPN are, but it worked fine for me.)

VPN with Vista using RV082 Router

In a general sense QuickVpn is set as a split tunnel by default and pptp is not.

Can that "...split tunnel by default..." be overridden in any way?
I finally made QuickVPN work and it would be great to know that all the employees' traffic goes through that litil RV042.

    Have a nice day!

Connect to a VPN using Vista

If you are looking to access your network remotely and you QuickVPN is not working for you try this for use with RV0xx and WRV0xx:

    On Router:
    1. Log into your router and enable the pptp server.
(VPN tab - then PPTP tab)
    2. Create a username and pasword

    In Vista:
    1. Open Network Sharing and Security Center.
(Start - Network - Network and Security Center)
    2. On the left side click - Setup a connection or network
    3. Select - Connect to a workplace
    4. if there is already one setup then select - no create a new one
    5. Click - Use my Internet Connection (VPN)
    6. Enter the IP of the network you are connecting to or the domain
    7. Name the network (this will be the shortcut name)
    8. Enter the username and password that you set up in the router for the PPTP server
    9. Click conncet and you are done.
