Vonage BLOCKED in dubai, looking to do a VPN

Hello, I hope this is the right forum for my question. I had vonage working perfect for my fiance in Dubai for the past year (linksys pap2 adapter). Well now the evil telecom company there Etisalat has blocked VOIP and now vonage is no longer working there. I was guided to this site from vonage-forum as a place to maybe solve my problems. What I was told to do was get a WRT54GL router and change the firmware on it (I don't know which or what kind of firmware) then subscribe to a VPN like publicvpn.com then mail it off to her in Dubai and that should do the trick for vonage to rework over there. A guy is talking about it in his blog http://simplevpn.blogspot.com/ but the fool wants $100 for his assistance on changing the settings in the router to work with the VPN. Any suggestions or advice would really be appreciated!

the firmware i was recommended to use was http://simplevpn.blogspot.com/

i think i have all the ingredients needed to make this work but I have no clue if I am on the right track and if so what do I need to do to make it work now that the telecom company there cut people off who use vonage.

I have also been recommended to use 2 WRV54G VPN routers (one here in North Carolina and one in Dubai) and create a tunnel in that manner.

I would go with the 54GL instead...cheaper. Depends on what firmware you use. Hyper developer, Thibor, is always in this forum to answer question. There other forums for dd-wrt as well

Once you've decide what FW to use. Just post a question and someone will help you out. I used dd-wrt FW and they have wiki or how-to.

Thanks for your help, I think I am going with the 54GL and I posted on the DD-WRT forum for assistance in figuring out how to do the firmware and if that will do the trick for me, thanks for your assistance!

lol... i had just found that page and made it as a favorite, so after flashing the 54GL to DD-WRT I should be able to connect it to publicvpn.com and plug my vonage adapter into the router and it work.... at least that is the train of though I am on right now

why pay when the dd-wrt has support for the built-in VPN. Here is exactly what you want.

so in this scenario I would need two Linksys 54GL routers with DD-WRT configured on them, is that correct?
