I have server 2003 running vpn and have connected a long time ago with no problems. I have since replaced my router (WRT54G) with another WRT54G and have the latest tomato installed and can't connect. I can connect from one pc inside the network to my server no problem, but can't from outside. I have port 1723 forwarded and have experimented with other ports, 500 etc. I have tried with the Tracking / NAT Helpers checked and unchecked.

I downloaded the test tools for testing GRE connectivity and it confirms the 1723 port communication but does not show the GRE communications. It does inside the network but not from the outside. Anyone have any ideas?

    Thanks

    PPTP?

You're going to struggle with this -- I eventually got it working. Assuming PPTP, it's a port + GRE, which isn't port specific. You'd need to tell tomato to fwd GRE to the server. Do a search in the forum for that as I had some commands I used to do this, but frankly, I didn't end up using it because it was too flakey in double-nat, etc. situations. I switched to openvpn.
