VPN server? is that what I want?

    Not sure if I am looking for the right thing, but I want to be able to access a network share on my home LAN (behind WRT54G) from the internet. I notice that the wifi box f/w has a VPN server. Does this mean that (after some configuration that I will investigate if I am on the right track) I will be able to access via something like:
    //WAN IP/network share ?

    Real new to this so bear with me...

    I also wonder if there is a f/w that will enable a bandwidth log on the router? I want to be able to monitor the total amount of traffic that passes through the router to the WAN. Something like netstat live that runs on the router itself?

    Thanks

    Yes, by using the built-in VPN server, you will be able to do just that. You will be able to log in using the Windows VPN client. and then you won't be able to see the computers on your LAN by name, but will be able to see them as you described, except with //LAN IP/networkshare/ and of course, you'd have to know the IP for teh computer you're trying to get to, but thats why theres the options of looking in the DHCP clients table on the router, which you can still access at 192.168.1.1 (default) when you VPN in or you can use the Static DHCP, so that you always know .100 goes to the same computer.

    Hope that helps
