Hello everyone, I setup openvpn through my tomato router and now the access restrictions is not working and also the Web Usage is not showing logs. If I disable the VPN everything workings fine. I have tryed Shibbys and Toastmans builds and I am using an Asus RT N16 router. Does anyone know how I can get this working with the VPN running?

    Thanks

Sounds like you have it set to route all network requests through the VPN server router, not your local router.

So I have to use 2 routers? Any idea how I can do this?

I have followed your link but I cannot find the guide on how to setup what I am talking about. Can you or someone point me in the right direction here?

I have an OPENVPN Client setup on my router. It is working but when it is enabled access restriction and Web monitor is not working. Can someone please link me to a tutoral on how to set this up with 2 routers or whatever method is need to get this working. I have searched google and can;t seem to find much on this problem.

    Thanks

As I mentioned before, check your VPN client setup in Tomato. Ensure that the Accept DNS configuration item is either Relaxed or Disabled. Also, make sure the Redirect Internet Traffic checkbox is not checked.

I have tryed what you suggested and it is still not working. No access restrictions are working and Web Usage is showing nothing when VPN is enabled. I had a member at another forum with the same problem he said that he found out from another user that "as the flow is in the tunnel it can't be filtered or analyzed any more"

But if anyone has any suggestions that I could do to make this work it would be greatly appreciated. I really would like to to have a vpn running but with thos features are not working I will have to cancel out the VPN

Also make sure that the Direct clients to redirect Internet traffic checkbox on the server's Advanced OpenVPN tab is unchecked.

It's got to be some error in your configuration. I run an OpenVPN tunnel on my router an don't experience this problem.

I will play around with my settings a bit more later tonight when I get some more time but I have tryed just about everything. There is another user on another forum that has the same problem. Are you running Openvpn Client? I have have tryed shibbys and toastman builds nvram erase after every flash and still the same problem

Well I have played around again changing just about everything and I will am not getting getting the web monitor or access restrictions with the VPN running. Redirect internet traffic is unchecked.

I have tryed every setting in the Accept DNS config, Encryption cipher and
    Compression and still not working.

Under the custom config I have :

    client
    dev tap
    resolv-retry infinite
    auth-retry nointeract
    nobind
    proto udp
    persist-key
    persist-tun
    ns-cert-type server
    fragment 1300
    comp-lzo
    verb 3
    mute 20

Could it be a problem in my custom config?
    Anyone with suggestions?

Hey guys. Anyone have any suggestions to this problem?
Or maybe if it's possible could I have a 2 router setup. One to connect to the Vpn. And my other router connect to the Vpn router maybe the second router would be able to have it so my access restrictions and Webmon would work

Why do you have all that stuff in the custom config? Some of it is likely conflicting with others. Why do you use a TAP instead of a TUN? Are you bridging two networks or routing between them? Does your VPN tunnel work?

I'd remove all that extra stuff and see how it goes.

A PM I sent in response to mikey's question:

Okay guys I finally got it working!!! To answer your question gfunkdave, The custom config I posted a while back was a little messed up yes I know. The problem is the VPN provider I had before didn't have an official setup for Tomato based routers so I have to try and write the custom config myself and at the time I did not know anything about openvpn. Here is what I had to do to get it working:

Basically I had to use 2 routers for this to work. My first router: Has an ethernet cable from the WAN port to my modem. Then I run another cable from the LAN to the WAN of my second router.

So my first router is setup to get the main internet connection. I also have this router setup fully to connect with the VPN.

My second router now has an internet connection with vpn through my first router and now my access restrictions and web monitor is working.....
