I live in Spain and have a Telefonica ADSL line. This line works fine with the Telefonica supplied USB modem.

Just purchased WAG200G. Tried to setup Gateway but cannot get the internet connection up...always red light and shows as "DOWN" . DSL light is green.

Telefonica is dynamic IP so using RFC 1483 Bridged.
Wonder if the Mux or Qos setting could be causing a problem?

    Any ideas?????

    Thanks

    Telefónica (España) Dinámica requires
    PPPoE
    8/32
    LLC/SNAP

    Telefónica (España) Fija requires
    RFC 1483
    8/32
    LLC/SNAP

    PPPoE vs RFC 1483

    Thanks for the quick reply.

I set LLC...what is SNAP?? (sorry but just starting out with this stuff!)

I thought my PC had to connect PPPoE to the Gateway and the Gateway needed to be the dynamic option provided by RFC 1483?

Anyway I tried PPPoE and got no internet light at all..tried 1483 and got the red light.

No, the PC has nothing to do, PPPoE encapsulation has to be done by the WAG with username and password...

    telefonica internet

    Thanks for the help.

Now get internet coonection from the gateway. Using the CD wizard and selecting "telefonica" does not work as it gives VC instead of LLC..should I tell someone about this ?

Now all I have to do is get the PC to be able to use the internet link...when using the CD wizard it does not complete properly and a windows (I think) message comes up saying go to "advanced settings and correct the connection type"....??????

I really thought this was going to be real easy..!

Any further advice would be great.....

    Thanks ...Pat

    WAG200G Telefonica setup

    Thanks for that link.

I followed the instructions and now have a solid internet connection showing on the WAG200G.

    BUT

I cannot load any site through Internet Explorer (except the WAG200G!).

I did the two ipconfig commands, then reloaded explorer but nothing.

As far as I can tell all settings on WAG200G look good and as described in that document.

When I try to load a site I think I see a flicker on the WAG200G internet light.

    Any further ideas...????

    Thanks in anticipation.....

    Pat

I now have a working setup.

Getting the right WAG200G settings was the main problem..lets hope Linksys fix that issue with their wizard.

My last problem was because my ethernet adaptor/connection needed IP address.

Thanks for all the help, especially Victek, HiSpeed and virgo17(Ken).
