Hi everybody (this is my first post on this forum),

I have bought a WAG354G wireless router, and all works fine except when it occasionally freezes, and the internet does not work (even though the green internet and dsl lights are on green). Usually i have to turn the router off and on again to fix this, although sometimes i have to reset it and reconfigure it (which is huge pain).

    Any help greatly appreciated.

When it stops i would check several things. Do you loose your connection to the router (port show disconnected able to ping)? Once you determine this you can figure out if it is possibly your machine or actually the router. If you dont loose connection and can ping, see if you can access it, maybe its something internet side. If none of this works and all else fails then i would reflash the router with the latest code.

Do this test. When your router works normally, launch cmd, and type:
    ping www.google.com
You'll see the ip adreess of google. Write it down somewhere.
The next time your router does not work, type that address in your browser (without www). If the google page is displayed, it is a dns problem.

Sometimes dns resolution on wag354g stops to work. If your network card has dns setted manually, no problem, the internet continues to be accessible. Instead if you use dhcp, or use the ip of the router as dns, there is nothing you can do. One solution is to specify manually dns servers. Another solution is to disconnect and reconnect the router to the internet (via the "status" web page).

Why this happens? It is because the daemon dnsmasq in the wag354g crashes. I noticed it because I enabled telnet in my router, and when internet does not work, dnsmasq is not in the list of running processes. If I launch it manually, internet works again...I'm gonna fix this bug in the next release of my firmware...

Thanks you both for the quick response. I look forward to your next update, masterb.
    Thanks. David.
