Like it says in the subject line.

The router works fine in all other ways* and other port forwardings (RDP and VNC = 3389 and 5900) work OK, but I cannot get the router to port forward telnet (23) to a server on the LAN. I have also tried forwarding external port 9923 to port 23 on the local device without success.

I am on the latest firmware (1.01.05)

Anyone else? Any useful suggestions before I pull the router from site and send it back in favour of a Draytek?

I have logged this with Linksys.

    Thanks

    Nigel Kendrick

    * Everything works except that, as others have reported, DNS proxying stops after a while.

if you are using 1.01.05 / EU, as you should, I don't see why it should be not working...it works on mine...

can you telnet the server inside the LAN?

Yep, if I remote desktop (RDP = port 3389) into a local PC and run good ole MS Telnet things work fine. I also have setup VNC (port 5900) for remote connects to some Win98 machines - all NAT forwardings work except telnet. I've tried deleting the setup and making it up again without success. What with this and the DNS proxy issue I may pull the router from site anyway and install a soid, reliable Draytek - I need reliable remote access to this site as it's a 2 hour car drive away including a 30 minute car ferry trip!

it does work here so I don't thin it's a router issue..

    Is it a firewall issue?

If running XP, open the firewall options > 'Advanced' tab, select the connection, then click 'Settings', and tick the checkbox for Telnet.
