WAG54G 1.2 and WAG300N

I've just bought the WAG300N, upgrading from my old tired WAG54G (version 1.2 with firmware 1.02.7).

The range on the WG300N is good - but I'm working on a really big site, and due to old telephone wiring in my main house am very restricted as to where I can plug my modem into a telephone socket :(

This means that the signal has to go a long way and through several walls to reach my computers.

I was wondering if I could use my old WAG54G to extend the range of my wireless network. I've checked and it is the version of the WAG54G which supports WDS, but I don't know whether I could use this to link with my WAG300N or not?

Obviously I don't want to link the two with wires as thats defeats the purpose of a 'wireless' network.

If linking the 2 wirelessly is not possible - I have another computer that can 'see' the WAG300N perfectly (via a WMP300N card), could I internet share from that computers LAN card to the WAG54G which could then broadcast that internet wirelessly?

Thanks in advance for any help,
