WAG54G and WAP54G

    Hi,
I used to have a WAP54G connected to my PC which was running Internet Connection Sharing on it's USB ADSL modem. Now I got the WAG54G and it's running pretty fine.
Reception is a little weak in the living room and I thought I might be able to make use of my WAP54G. Using it as a repeater or bridge didn't work.
I have an ethernet cable running from the WAG54G to the living room, I thought I might connect the WAP54G to it and connect the laptop to it. I can connect but no communication is routed from the WAP54 to the WAG54G.

Does anyone have an idea if it's possible to make use of my WAP54G in some scenario to expand reception?

    Thanks and regards
    Uso

Is there support in the WAG54G for WDS Support?

WAP54G supports repeater, bridge, client,.. mode unless the 2.07 firmware is out! I suggest you to upgrade your firmware to HyperWAP, you have all indstructions and other stuff on that site... http://www.hyperdrive.be/hyperwap/

I'm doing this: my WAP54G works as a repeater for the WAG54G. I'm using the most recent firmware available on the linksys website for the WAP54G. I've only tried firmware versions 1.2.5 and 1.2.7 on the WAG54G, because these are the only firmwares supporting WDS (Which I enabled). Nevertheless, It is possible to use a WAP54G as repeater for the WRT54G and according to the article in Linksys knowledge base (art 571 I think) there is no need for WDS in the WRT54G, so I think I'm going to try out some non-beta firmware like 1.02.1...

The problem is that the wireless feature in the WAG54G seems to hang once in a while (and this while is smaller than 1h), but it suffices to reboot the Wireless component (by changing some wireless setting) to get it back working for a short while...
So I am going to try the following steps:

    1. Disable encryption (now using 128bits WEP, WPA is incompatible with a WAP54G as repeater)
    2. Disable WDS (maybe there is some bug in the WDS component)
    3. Roll back to 1.02.1 (this doesn't have WDS)
    4. Contact Linksys support, because it seems they sold me a AG041 with some antenna attached to it as furniture :)...

I'll let you know to which step I had to go and if the WAP54G can be used as repeater (I doubt if it is possible in situation 2. and 3.)
