    Hi Guys

    I'm new here so "HI"

well, I just bought WAG54G and I already have ADSL model SpeedTouch 510 (4ports)

My Q: can I use WAG54G as a router only without connecting through it to the ADSL ?

My thinking is to have the Speedtouch in my room connected with cable to WAG54G which will be in the next room where I want to use the wireless there and to get more area and long cover for it

I saw in the options something about “Router†but I really don’t know the setting so I decided to ask the expertise

Many thanx for ur replay in advance

    Hi,

I'm not sure but I think WAG can only route from the internal modem...

All you have to do (if you haven't done so) is just "disconnect" your adsl modem and connect the WAG54G directly to the RJ-11 connection. The WAG is a built in modem/router device (I despise these contraptions "greatly") so that's all you need to do.

    Hi,
Does it mean I need just to plug LAN cable to RJ-11 and establish rooting?
    :)

If you do this, the WAG will act as an ethernet switch and wifi access point, but you won't be able to use port fowarding, firewall or any similar stuff
