I am on my second Linksys WAG54G Router and I am getting the same problem where the power supply humms rather loudly, is it worth me taking it back to the store where I purchased it from to get another replacement or shall I buy a new power supply for the unit from Maplins?

Has anyone else experienced this problem?

With the replacement won't you get a new wag and a new power supply unit?Or they replace the wag only?If so can't you ask a replacement for both?BTW is it a WAGv1, WAGv1.2, or WAGv2?

Sorry I have got a WAG54G v2, and the last time I got it replaced they replaced both the router and the power supply.

After the initial problem with the power supply I took the Router back to Staples and they replaced it with another unit without a problem. I don't have a problem with taking it back but it's just a pain in the arse if I get another faulty power unit.

Do you know whether this is a known problem or am I just being unlucky?

i think your just unlucky m8, as i have brought about 12 of them..

and the version 2 routers are better, the ver 1.2 are crap allways locking up...

Right I've just been and swapped the unit over with another v2, lets see what happens now.

Does anyone know whether Linksys will be replacing the WAG54G with something else in the near future?

    Yes with a Netgear DG834G !

The WAG power supply is a cheap and nasty transformer type. Gets hot and buzzes horribly.

I had enough of mine and replaced it with a minature (silent) high efficiency switched-mode type.

I feel the original PSU is responsible for an awful lot of problems.

Had the same problem with a wag54g ver 2 PSU. Just took the power supply back to PCWorld and they changed it. No problems with the new one.
