WAG54G-UK driving me around the bend

I have used a WAG54G-UK for a couple of years now to run a mix of wireless computers. An intermittant problem for one one of them has slowly become worse and is now at crisis point.

It is a PC which is now using a Belkin USB device to connect - it was previously directly wired with a LAN cable, but stopped regularly working - this may be a manifestation of the same problem.

It can see the network and claims it is connecting to the router. However it gets stuck at "Renewing your IP address" and eventually gives up trying repair it and thus cannot get at the internet.

Just to be really annoying it sometimes decides to fix itself and connect after a while for no obvious reason. It did it earlier this evening after being left alone for 10 minutes or so. In a similar way, when it does work it can suddenly choose to disconnect. Aaagh!

Any ideas much appreciated because my limited knowledge is now exhausted. All the other laptops in the house are happily connected, but the problem one happens to be key to my wife's business activities, so my 'network administrator' qualifications in this house are under review.

And, I know I shouldn't do this but.......

It happily connects to the internet through a neighbour's unsecured wireless network. Ip config then gives.....

    Ethernet adapter Wireless Network Connection:

    Connection-specific DNS Suffix . :
    Autoconfiguration IP Address . . . : 192.168.1.2
    Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.0.0
    Default Gateway . . . . . . . :192.168.1.1

So what does this PC hate about my router? Evidently somethings up with the IP address it is choosing. Ideas appreciated.
