I'm based in the UK and using a WAG54G ADSL Gateway/Firewall/Router with the firmware : WAG54G_AnnexA_ETSI_v1.03.0_beta4_00_code Anyhow I can configure the WAG54G for Wireless network with (a) allowing only my MAC address access. This works because I tested it (b) WPA Pre-Shared Key with TKIP. This works (c) Reading up on how to secure my wireless home network various places on the internet say set Wireless SSID Broadcast to disable. OK (a) and (b) work fine when I have Wireless SSID Broadcast set to enabled but as soon as I set my WAG54G Wireless SSID Broadcast to disable I cannot connect via wireless any more because XP says wireless network not in range and the linksys software scans and cannot find the network. ------- So does anyone know how I get this working with WAG54G Wireless SSID Broadcast set to disabled and using WPA Pre-Shared Key with TKIP? ------- regards and thanks if you can help! Extra info: (1) I have a WMP54G Wireless-G PCI Adapter (V4). The XP SP2 Wireless Zero Configuration Service is running. I'm using the Linksys drivers that came on the CDROm for the WMP54G card, namely v2.2.3 (so RT2500.sys is version 2.2.3) with Wireless Network Monitor v4.0 (2) I tried to update to the later Linksys v2.2.7 driver and the Wireless Network Monitor v4.2 however the later v2.2.7 driver caused my XP SP2 to (i) to not allow the wireless connection to work even with SSID broadcast (ii) the computer BLUE SCREENED upon reboot complaining about RT2500.sys (which at that point was v2.2.7). (3) I tried to use the latest s/w and drivers available for the chipset for the card from www.ralinktech.com/supp-1.htm, namely RT61 + RT2500 2005/07/20 (RT2500.sys therefore went to v3.0.4). This ralinktech didn't even recogise PCI card. The driver and software didn't work. So all-in-all I'm not happy with the s/w out there on the net for this WMP54G v4 PCI Wireless card. At least it works but I must broadcast the SSID from the WAG54G or is there a solution?
