    hi
i think that the wag54g v2 is one of better (or THE BETTER?) router around (for the stabilty: more than a rock! :D )

many friends now are running the old version 1.01.05 and the wag54g are solid like a rock: can i try to update the firm, or better to use this one?
the newest one add some usefull feature (ex: the DHCP Reserved IP List accessible without a trick?)???

Not really added but most probably suppressed... I mean bugs...

The feedback of users appears good, it seems to be working fine with ADSL2+ (main problem of this Wag)...

    WAG54Gv2 WOES *** WARNING! CONTAINS SPOILERS!!! ***

    HiSpeed,

I haven't been able to find a definitive reference on the WAG54Gv2 although I have found quite a bit of mention of the original first version WAG54G which is apparently quite different architecturally from revision 2 of the device of the same model name (different chipset and such?). It probably doesn't help that one guy will call it "WAG54Gv2" and another will refer to it as a "WAG54G v.2" and then yet again another guy calls it "WAG54G2"... I hence putforth that in order to making it easier for future users of this model to quickly and correctly find this specific model, that we all agree to call it something in the same way but it will save the future user from having to wade and sift through 90% of the posts talking about the other version of the device.

PS- do any of you know whether this thing can actually syslog? been trying to receive but 1 udp packet from the thing to no avail for days... :-(

Also, being in AU, I believe I can use any other Annex-A type firmwares right, so which is the latest baby I can throw on this thing in the hopes I can get syslog happening and a few of the other bugs fixed (currently using 1.01.25-AU).

    Cheers and thanks in advance

CF62xxxxxxxx is the serial number of WAG54G v2.0 in Europe !

In Australia, hardware is slightly different and require a special firmware, 1.01.25-AU is the last I know !

installed 1.02.00 on a wag54gv2 and my friend told to me that the wag drop often the connection (on an adsl "1") :(
better to return to the rock solid 1.01.05 :(

and, really strange.. activating the qos, i cannot enter (remotely) to that router, deactivating it no prob with a remote administration (no prob with 1.01.05)

    someone see this issue?

and (perhaps ot) the 1.02.00 doesn't assign a ip address (dhcp reserved ip, thx again hispeed for the "old tricked" url ;) ) to a mac address 00:01:02:03:04:05 (strange one i know it..)
but i haven't tryed this mac_add with the old firm

    Do you mean http://192.168.1.1/dhcp_reserved.asp doesn't work with 1.02.00 ?

    Try then 1.01.22 !

the link works like usual and assign correctly the specified ip, BUT
with a client with the mac 00:01:02:03:04:05 (reported by pc and from the arp table) doesn't release the correct ip (tryed many times, and this one is a new client never connected with the old firmware)
really strange like the qos/remote administation issue

but the real prob is the connection drop :(
i'll return to the 1.01.05.. :thumb:
with that version, at today, i found only a little bug in the backup/restore feature: works, but the router doesn't works so well if a restore is used to configure it, and if used to configure other wag with the same firm some wag goes crazy :)
