I am using the WAG54G (v1 with 1.03.0 beta firmware and WPA/PSK-TKIP) for almost a year now and having the same stability problems many other owners have reported here.

Since I installed the update KB893357 on my Windows XP the wireless stability of the WAG54G has improved a lot and I do not have any disconnects anymore. Although the info on the microsoft page states that the update only adds WPA2 support, it also seems to improve xp's zero wireless configuration.

Maybe this also helps to solve your problems with the WAG54G. More information on the update can be found here.

It may help, but I've use the wag with ZCFG client, oddysey client, linksys client, intel client.
I've got more or less the same result
