WAG54GS Disconnects on Tiscali ADSL

A friend is having problems with a WAG54GS on Tiscali.

It keeps dropping the connection (ie the DSL light goes out) and then struggles to get it back.

He's had spells of good connections, but these are few and far between.

BT say they've checked the line OK.

Everything has filters on it (including the burglar alarm).

Don't know what firmware he's on until I go take a look, but can anyone recommend anything?

Is this a known fault with this router or firmware?

I take it you have tried connecting the WAG to the BT master socket with all internal house phone cabling disconnected?
Also have you access to a USB modem? if so try this and see if the fault persists!

I would have tried that but it's a very old installation (in a pub) and the extensions are all hard wired. The master is not the new type with the removable front.
When he first set it up, the USB modem was also flakey, but that turned out to be dodgy filters. He replaced the passive filters with active ones and that worked OK with the USB modem, but the Linksys has always had trouble holding onto the connection. I will be trying the USB modem again as a check.

OK, I have now tried the USB modem again and it is working (I am posting this via the USB modem working connection).

Firmware version on the WAG54GS is only at v1.00.02, so I'll try upgrading that now.

OK, flashed to 1.00.06, done a reset but still no joy. DSL light flashes a couple of times then goes out. Tries again about 30 sec later.

Switch back to speedtouch USB modem - connects straight away.

Relay this to Linksys support and if all else fails, RMA time!
