Hello, I have a WAG54GS and I want it to wirelessly connect to the WAP54G access point. I want to make this: When I set wap to repeater it will not talk to the wag54gs unless it is connected it via lan. When disconnecting the lan of the wap to the wag I do not get IP on my wirelessly connected pcs on the wap54g. Linksys said to me that wag54gs repeating to wap54g is not possible. WAG54GS works in AP mode by default. Said that I will have to wait for a firmware update. Only wrt can do this untill now. Anyway if someone has made wag54gs connect wirelessly to the WAP54G please tell me how. Is there a frimware for WAG54GS (even beta) that can do this? Thanks in advance! Spyros
Same proble here I'm trying to set-up a network in the exact same way and reached the same conclusion after contacting the Linksys LiveChat. Any help on this would be appreciated.
No way Hi Durius, You will need another WAP it has to go: wag54gs to wap54g and then another wap54g and then to wireless PCs Linksys just made sure that it will get more money by not upgrading their wag54gs firmware, for a while!
Hi, You mean that I have to wire wag to wap and then make a wireless connection to another wap and then connect all the wireless pcs? thanks for you help
That's really strange, I think this should be a supported feature for this kind of hardware Is it a question of hardware or just unapropriate firmware???
a matter of firmware, since linksys tech support told me that next firmware releases will support this feature! It's a way for linksys to get more money from more customers!
Hi Guys, The only one Linksys gateway sending a repeatable wireless signal is the WAG54G 1.x with a firmware 1.02.7 at least. That means there is no way to repeat with the others...
i was hoping to repeat the signal from my wag54gs but seems i'll now have to buy another couple of wag54g's to do the job
So - I need to get a copy of the 1.02.7 firmware but cannot find it anywhere! Does anyone have an *active* link to where I can find it? Thanks, Graham
