WAP54G and File/Print Sharing

I have a WAP54G plugged into a Netgear FVS318 8 port router. The WAP54G gets its IP using DHCP from the Netgear, and allows my laptop to surf the net wirelessly. I can access file and print shares on my Desktop from the laptop when I _wire_ the laptop to the FVS318, but not when I try to connect wirelessly over the WAP54G.

The WAP54G is Access point mode. I have tried disabling (as a test!) both the Windows firewall on the Laptop and the Personal firewall on the Desktop. The laptop is XP/Pro and the Desktop is 98SE.

Any ideas? Is file sharing possible over a WAP54G?

I'm not familiar with the netgear router. Is it possible the access point is plugged into an Internet port?

I've actually done this on purpose, plugged my access point into a DMZ port so nothing on the wireless network can get in, unless using a VPN connection.
