I have had this unit for several years. it is running on factory settings.

    WPC54G to WAP54G to BEFSR41 to modem.
Also 3 hardwired PC's to router.

3 nights ago I booted my laptop, placed the card in and could not find the WAP. (did find a neighbors Motorola)

After several resets and some research I found I can lock on to the WAP <ONLY IF> I unplug the wap from the router.

Contacted Linksys, updated Firmware to 3.xx. Update went correct.

Same problem. Must unplug WPA to get a lock. Once plugged in communication is lost.

    Is this thing shot?

    Frustration continues.

I assumed,(bad idea) after several unsuccessful hours of working on this, the WAP54G must be bad. Went to Office Max and shelled out $80 for a new WAP54G.

    Same problem.

Brain storm..... Dummy, you have a WAP54G running at work. Try connecting to the network wirelessly!

Same problem at work. The WAP and WPC will only connect if the WAP's cable is unplugged from the router.

Called Linksys, but after 2 hrs. they are not sure if it is the card or not.

Like talking to an empty room.

With my WAP connected to the system at work(same layout as at home) My son could connedt with his Laptop and wireless card.

I put the original WAP54G back into the system. I purchased a new WAP54GS and instaled it in my laptop.

I spent the next 4 hours in chat with linksys(about 20 minutes actually doing anything) with no results before their chat system crashed.

    We never got anything accomplished.

I disabled windows WZC and got some action between the WPC and WAP but nothing else.

After giving up for the night, I powered the laptop up this morning and have SOME conectivity.
    At power on:
    Speed was 36
    signal at 72
    Quality at 63

    Steadily dropping now to:
    Speed 11
    signal 17
    quality 23

This is all beyond me. Any help would be appreciated.

Wow, you can Delete this thread if needed.

After 3 days and to many hours searching, chatting, talking with tech support and getting NO Closer to resolving this, I gave up.

I returned the new WAP54G and the new WPC54g and Purched D-Link DI-624 and DWI-G650. These 2 pieces replaced 3 from linksys and with rebates cost the same as just buying a PCM card.

The real kicker is it is up and running......and doing so 2x faster than the Linksys ever ran.

Don't get me wrong, I was happy for over 2 years with the linksys system. It was extremely reliable until the end. Tech sypport caused the change more than anything.
