I had a connection across the street connecting a Router Airlink101 AR410W to a Linksys WAP54g in repeater mode. I had a hardwire connection into the repeater and that worked great, super fast. I also could connect to the wireless signal throughout the house with some problems, but I would get connected most of the time. I tried changing the setup to WPA and it stopped working.
When I tried changing it back it still didn't work. With numerous reboots and resetting up both sides I'm still only getting connected when I change it to client mode and i can only connect through the hardwired machine. In client mode is the only way I can ping the gateway which is the airlink accross the street. When I try to ping the gateway in repeater mode it does not work, which I was able to before.
I've upgraded the firmware(upgrade and downgraded). Ensured the SSID, Channel, switched channels,Passphrase,Webkey, were all correct and even set it up with no encryption at all and still nothing. Should I chalk this up as the Access point is bad now?

You've done a good old hard re-boot or reset to factory settings and re-did the setup manually, I suppose?

Yeah, used all firmwares but still nothing. I even contact linksys and airlink support online and both said what I thought they'd say can't help your not connecting to our equipment. C R A P

Do you have the LazyWDS option?

ITs funny this thing now will only work in Client mode with no encryption. It went from working in Repeater mode with WEP, to working with WEP in Client mode, to only working in client mode with no encryption. Sounds like I'm not configuring things the same but I have checked and rechecked settings.
