WAP54G + netgear router

Discussion in 'Other Linksys Equipment' started by mashedpotatoes, Jul 15, 2005.

  1. Hi guys, hope you can help me.

I'm currently using a netgear WGR614 cable/dsl wireless router. Current setup is the router next to a Mac downstairs connecting through ethernet (and the router connected directly to the cable modem), and my PC upstairs using a wireless pci card.

Unfortunately I share with a girl who really hates the 10m cable running from the front of the house to the back, where the mac and the cable modem and router are.

She wants to move the cable modem and router into the front room, at the outlet, and connect her mac in the backroom wirelessly.

However, she uses a G4 imac which is not compatible with the airport extreme G rating adaptors.

I originally ordered the netgear 602 access point, only to find out it will only connect wirelessly to other 602's.... So I've ordered a linksys WAP54G, however, i've read that they don't like bridging or repeating with other routers...

So, before I send this one back as well, will it still work in client mode? And is there any hope for it to work in bridging or repeater mode?

Sorry to say there is no hope in getting the Linksys and Netgear bridging or repeater mode to communicate Together.
