    Good day,

I have a LinkSys WAP54G V3.1 access point (with SST 39VF1601 flash) that, when powered on only has the power (red) and link (orange) LEDS on, the act (green) LED is totally off. The LED on the hub port, to where the access point is connected also doesn't light up, so I cannot ping it in this state.

I can get it to work by doing the following:

    1. Shorting pin 16 of the flash chip while booting up. This lights up the port on the hub, and allows me to ping the access point on 192.168.1.245.
    2. I then use the "tftp -i 192.168.1.245 put c:\firmwarefile.trx" command to upload the firmware. This is either the LinkSys version 3.05.03 or 3.08.02. Transfers successfully in 2 or 3 seconds.
    3. After about 10 seconds, the act (green) LED lights up and everything works perfectly. I can then connect wireless devices to it, and also access the web server.

The problem arises when I switch the access point off and on again, after which I find myself at square one with the red (power) and orange (link) LEDS on and the green (act) and hub port LEDS off.

It seems that it doesn't retain the settings on powering down, doesn't matter the firmware version I use. Also, when I access the web server after step 3 and click "Save Settings", it loses connectivity.

I hope someone has encountered this before and can shed some light on my dilemma...

    Thanks!

I seem to be having the same problem... although after the flash, I don't have a green light... instead I'm getting the white light on the front LED pointy thing
