My WAP54G ver2 Power and link leds are on and I can't login to it (at address
I tried to reset it but with no success. I had finished upgrading the firmware to
Version 3.04. It said 'Upgrade Complete'. I tried to refresh the page. Nothing.
Do you have any idea what to do to make it work again?
Is there any way to connect with AP and to load firmware - some serial connection using "magic" cable

    Possible correction steps

Okay, can you ping the IP address? If so, you can TFTP the latest version of firmware or previous version. Search for the forum for the proper syntax. Upon successful upload, power the unit off for 30 seconds or more. Power it backup and press and hold the reset button for 30 seconds. Then try accessing the admin web page.

Try a reset by holding the reset button for 30 seconds. Did you reset the WAP54G to factory defaults and update the firmware from a wired connection. My WAP54Gv2.0 is running 3.04, after a upgrade from 3.03.

I have the same problem after upgrade to 3.04. After hard reset, still cannot ping the default ip. Linksys Setup disk cannot detect my wap54g also. Anyone can help? Please.

I have the EXACT same problem as mongseng, I know how you feel.

I updated the firmware wirelessly and I since read on the Linksys site that this should be done via LAN cable. If this is the cause of the problem, why don't they put that nugget in the readme.txt with the firmware ?????

Bizarrely, mine still gives me internet access wirelessly although it's now unsecured since I did the factory reset thing. I can't work it out. As well as not being able to ping from my laptop, my router does not list it as a connected device and yet internet access works! Weird.

I've written to Linksys and am waiting for a reply. What we need is a way to downdate the firmware via LAN cable without the HTTP browser app. Anyone got any ideas on this ?

Further to my earlier post, I figured out what I was doing wrong. If any of it rings true with yourselves then I hope it helps you out. It's probably obvious to a lot of people on here but anyway here goes.

As already said, I upgraded to V3.04 firmware on my WAP54G V2 then nothing...apart from tantrums.

Upgrading the firmware on the WAP changes the IP address range such that it no longer matched the router to which it is connected. Therefore my PC, also connected to the router via LAN cable cannot reach it in order to change the settings. Yes, I know it's obvious now!

-Do the factory reset thing : > 30 seconds on the reset button just to make sure.

-If, like me, you DON'T have a Linksys router then your default gateway may not be in the 192.168.x.x domain. My router is actually 10.0.x.x, so trying to reach the freshly upgraded WAP via my router as per the Linksys help, wasn't going to work. I didn't know how to change my router to 192.168 etc, so I dug out on old 4 port hub and connected the WAP and PC to it.

    - I forcibly changed my PC IP address to, SNM

    - I rebooted and pinged as per Linksys website but NO JOY!
    - Ping, this should work which means you can now reach it with your browser and change all the settings. In my case, change the address range back to 10.0.x.x to match my router etc. God knows how I got this to work when I first bought it!

    - Change the PC IP addres back to automatic.

    - I then connected both PC and WAP back up to my router et voila! Log in with no username and admin as password.

I think in future I will change all the settings via cable because it becomes more obvious if anything goes wrong.

    Hope that helps.

    WAP54G 3.04

I have just upgraded my VAP54G V1 to v3.04 to support a WRE54g Extender but that is another story.

I was getting the same problems . I finally got into the console by re-setting the unit and connecting direct to the LAN port from the PC .
IP address is as mentiond before

Set your ethernet port with a fixed IP address ...192.168.1.xxx
I have managed to go back to 1.091 code and all is OK . Please note that if you are running under 1.07 v of code you must upgrade to 1.091 before going any higher as advised by Linksys.
