I was told by Linksys when I bought the equipment that it was indeed compatible. Their website lists the WRT54G as a compatible product with the WAPPOE. Linksys online tech support chat also claims it is compatible: However, after having a few problems, and doing quite a bit of research, I believe only the very first WRT54G is compatible with the WAPPOE. Every version after v1 needs 12v, which is only supplied by the WAPPOE12. EDIT [4/25/06]: I just got an email from a sales person at Cisco: Edit2 [4/26/06]: I just received an email from Linksys technical support: It seems as though I can't get a straight answer from anyone at Linksys. Does anyone in this forum use Linksys POE products and have any insight into this? My feeling is that I need the WAPPOE12, but since I did not design the routers, I don't feel I should be dictating what the power requirements are. Edit3 [4/26/06]: After showing the Cisco salesperson the email from Linksys technical support, I received this response: I'm starting to get the feeling Linksys doesn't know their own products or how to support them.
