Do NOT try to upgrade your firmware with the IE 7 beta. Maybe this is a "duh!" thing, or maybe I just got unlucky, but after an attempt to upgrade through IE 7 beta I have a dead router. I haven't found out whether linksys will repair it or not...but needless to say...I'm scared, just thought I'd put that out there.
Also, with firefox updates seem to fail as well...without damage though.

Well I upgraded my wrt54gs 1.1 from Thibor 13 to Thibor 14 the other day without problem and I only have IE 7.0 or Firefox to use. I think I used Firefox without problem!

Has anyone contacted Linksys about this? Wonder what their stance on it is? Isn't there another way to update (TFTP) or some other little application to use? Seems I had always used something other than an internet browser in the past with older routers (been a while so memory escapes)

As far as IE7, the web interface will timeout during a firmware upgrade at roughly 30 seconds into the process. The router will still successfully complete the upgrade as long as you wait several minutes for the router to finish and reboot. The key is to realize that the firmware file is sent to the router during the first several seconds of the upgrade. The danger is if you misinterpret the web page timeout as a sign that the flash was unsuccessful and unplug your router while it is still performing the upgrade.
