I've been getting the message "Network cable unplugged" lately and have figured out that it's because my router momentarily shuts down (all the lights go off for 2 or 3 seconds) and comes back on again. I've called Comcast to check the cable connection; they said it's fine and also suggested that it might be a power problem with the router too. I have a Linksys WCG200 wireless router/cable modem combo I bought last November. So I tried to power cycle it: - Disconnected EVERY connection to the router/modem. - Shut down the computers. - Waited a few minutes then reconnected all the wires to the router. I also unplugged the router from the serge protector, incase the power supply problem was coming from the serge protector, and plugged it directly into a power outlet on the wall. - Finally, turned the computers on. To no avail, the router still shuts down like every 15 or 20 minutes, sometimes with shorter intervals of 5 minutes or so. Has anyone experienced this problem before with routers/modems, or with the kind of router I have? Any other suggestions of what it could be? Should I consider getting a new router/modem?
