Originally I had DSL and was using a Linksys BEFW11S4 and had the high gain antennas and then antenna stand and my signal strength downstairs for my tivo was always excellant. now that I switched to cable and use the WCG200 my reception downstairs is almost nonexistant. I cant use the high gain antennas or the stand signal is worse. Is there anything I can do other then relocate the device? Thanks!

try to disable the wireless on the WCG200 and connect the BEFW11S4 to one of the ethernet ports on the WCG200

Well the tivo has the usb 802.11b nic. tho where it sits to get the best reception im not sure if i could get a reflector on it. The tivo and the AP are in essence oposite sides of the house one floor apart but not that far its a small townhouse. Its amazing what a difference those high gain antennas made. I just dont understand why they dont work with this ap. its annoying.
The main reason why i hadnt turned off the wireless on the wcg200 is cause of my laptop using the wireless g pcmcia card getting the higher transfer speeds.
I will see if I can do a reflector for the AP and see if it makes a difference. I guess I was just hoping there was some way to increase its output since it appears so much lower then the other device with or without the high gain antennas. Thanks for the replys.

  5. Upgrade Tivo Firmware

Not sure if you've done i yet or not but upgrade your tivo firmware with a request from tivo.com/suport. Signal stays almost excellent for me now all the time. Also it will allow you to change to a 802.11g adapter = better security and possible better connection/ better transfer speeds. Hope that helps. [New firmware also allows tivotogo]

Ahh I have software ver 7.1 now and can do the tivo2go thing so I can change to a g card now? hmm will have to give that a shot and see how that works. Thanks for the heads up on that.
