when in wds mode, will all tomato routers also be access points or does ap functionality need to be specifically enabled?

can a tomato router function as a repeater for a WRT54Gx with factory firmware?

and, given two tomato routers, what's the functional difference between a wds setup and a non-wds setup with one tomato acting as a repeater?

    thanks,
    david

Tomato has modes that support both options.

    Is that Linksys ?

WDS is used to effect the repetition. There is no distinction applicable to your question's given options.

wds will cause some extra overhead which will cause a slowdown of wireless traffic, but for internet access the difference will be null since I doubt you ISP gives you the bandwidth than 54G provides
