WDS: Does it work?

About a month ago, I bought a WAG54G and a WAP54G which was meant to act as a repeater. Because the WAG54G often lost its wireless connection I sent it back and got it replaced with a new one. This new WAG54G had the same problem. As I already had read a lot of bad things about the WAG54G, I decided to use the WAG54G as ADSL modem and bought a WRT54G for the wireless part, but I left the Wireless on the WAG54G enabled (on another channel etc). I set up the WAP54G to repeat the signal from the WRT54G (which is a v2.2 with firmware 3.03.1).
Since I have the WRT54G, the wireless on the WAG54G has't dropped even a single time, but the signal on the WRT54G now drops every few hours. I thought to switch the roles (the WRT54G repeating the WAP54G), but this isn't possible with the standard frimware. Sveasoft offers this possibility and version 6 seems to be compatible with the WRT54G, vertheless before spending another 50$ (25 for the WRT and I assume I will to be running sveasoft on the WAP54G also) I'd like to know if anyone has such a configuration running, and is it stable?
