    here is the setup:

    . . . . . . . . . . . . . . computer 1
    .. . . . . . . . . . . .. . .. |
    . . . . . . . . . . . . . .... |
    cable modem---WRT54GS "A" - - - - - - WRT54GS "B"--------computer 2

    linksys "A" ip = 192.168.1.1
    linksys "B" ip = 192.168.1.2
    computers ip >= 192.168.1.100

    Wireless Mode: AP
    Wireless Network Mode: Mixed
    Wireless Channel: 6 - 2.437GHz
    Wireless SSID Broadcast: Enabled
    64-bit WEP encryption
    Wireless MAC Filter Enabled
    WDS mode = LAN

    wds is working correctly
signal strength is on average -72 to -90db
    transfer rate on average 11-36Mbps

the problem resides sometimes that the transfer rate between the two routers drops to 1Mbps and all internet connectivity at the "B" end fails. the signal strength still remains solid but just the transfer rate drops. this happens at random times throughout the day. sometimes doesn't occur for a few days and othr times drops for like 30-45min or even multiple times per minute.

i have tried the following and still the problem exists:

    disabling encryption
    disabling wireless mac filter
    changing channels
    changing network modes
