SO I'm trying to repeat the signal from this remote AP. I have some clients living on a business site. There is some sort of AP (I have no idea wtf is going on with that) mounted high above the work site on a satellite. Said AP blasts signal and it almost services the house, but there are dead spots. So I grab a buffalo router and slam tomato on it, thinking that I can use AP+WDS mode to repeat the signal. Just a couple notes about the wireless AP on the roof. I can't log into the AP, said AP is just acting as an AP with no routing/dhcp going on. Its just up there providing wireless to a wired network with a wired DHCP server.

Is there a way to setup tomato to act as an AP to this unsecured wireless network? I have no access to the AP, but I can log into the DHCP server router thing.

I just emailed jon so this is a c&p job. BTW, I sent jon a wr850gp router in january to aid in the development of tomato on the wr850 :D I installed tomato on it, just for kicks and it worked surprisingly well, except for wired clients.

WDS modes require both radios to be programmed together. Since you cannot program the other AP, WDS will not work for you. You need to set Tomato for client bridged mode and bridge it to the AP. Then connect another Tomato radio in AP mode LAN port to LAN port with the client bridge Tomato to re-transmit the service in your house on a different channel.

wireless repeater mode is easier and doesn't need another tomato radio (= you'll need dd-wrt for it though.

DO I have to use v24 for it?
