Ok...my ordeal of downloading the latest firmware for my WRT54GS v6 router is now behind me. It went smoothly enough, and it did fix the funny 'time' issue. Yes, my router knows that it's no longer February, it's actually September.

I noticed a few strange things. For starters, my IP address is listed as xx.xx.41.145., and my default gateway is xx.xx.40.1.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but shouldn't my IP address (and default gateway) be

xx.xx.41.145 is your external IP address, while xx.xx.40.1 is your external gateway. The 192.168.x.x address are internal addresses, which are only viewable by you, and anyone else connected to your LAN. Other people on the internet outside your network see your xx.xx.41.145 address(es).

just a quick note for all. please refrain from showing your external IP address on this site. This could lead to a security breach as I am sure bots and hackers search for information on this site that could lead to an attack on your network.

Do you willingly give out your phone number or postal address in such a light hearted way? no..

Thanks for editing my response. Yes, I agree...no external IP addresses should be posted. That's what I get for posting on about 3 hours of sleep! Ghalad, thanks for the clarification on the external/internal address situation as well. I'm getting a crash course in Linksys troubleshooting the last several days!!
