I couldnt find a forum specifically for security questions, so i figured this is as good a place as any for this question (if the moderators have a better place for this kind of stuff, please let me know). I have a WRT54G 1.0 running Sveasoft Alchemy 1.0 stable, and lately I've been sort of uneasy using mac filtering as my only means of wireless security and keeping people from hacking my router. I know that WEP is the best type of encryption that the router offers (if not, im always open to new ideas and new means of security), but ive held off from using WEP due to my lack of knowledge on how to set it up on my wireless Debian box. I have 2 boxes that get their bandwidth through the wireless side of the router, the one running Debian, and the other using WinXP home. Id imagine the windows box would be a breeze to set up with WEP, but i just have no idea where to start with the debian box, or where to put the key.

if anybody knows of any docs i can read to clarify this, or has any suggestions on a good way to get this going, im all ears at this point.

    thanks guys.

WEP is not the best type of security for wireless you have a lot to catch up with.
    Try WPA AES
