I have a wrtp54g wireless router that was setup with no wep protection. I've since lost the install cd. Is there a way to put a password on the damn thing without the cd?
My setup is a Linksys wrtp54g wireless router, iMac G5 running OSX 10.4.8 connected via ethernet cable, and an iBookG4 in another room using airport...
I live in an apartment and wish I'd setup the wep encryption at the start! I was in too much of a hurry, and didn't want to bother reading how to set it up!
Ah well, thanks in advance for any help!!

edit->I've been trying to login with (I thought it was my router IP) with no luck. I finally figured out the correct router IP and I finally get to the login page for my router, WRTP54G firmware v1.00.62 Excellent! Except I am such an idiot, I have no idea what the username or pass was used to set it up!! My bro-in-law helped and neither of us can remember what we used!! After trying every name/number combo we can think of....its a dead-end. So, short of doing some sort of hard reset, is there anyway to find out what username+pass we used? Remember, I cant find my install cd...which I would need if I did a complete reset, right?

Do you know for sure that you changed the username/password. If not it may still be the default which is simply a password of 'admin'. If you've forgotten your username/password then there's little you can do other than reset the thing.

With regards to the install CD, anything on that you'll be able to download from linksys (and in all likelihood there are newer versions of the drivers out anyway). See the links on the left for linksys.com.
