WET54G Not Connecting, Web Server Not Accessible

Two overall problems with the WET54G Ver 3, Ethernet Bridge:
    - cannot access wet54g via web server, even when laptop and bridge cabled to router.
    - wet54g will not connect wirelessly with router

This gets a bit detailed, but I'm trying to indicate every step I have taken. These are the steps I have taken:
    Disabled firewall and anti-virus programs.
Connected laptop via cable to router (Linksys WRT54GS).
Connected WET54G Bridge via cable to router.
    Ran setup.
Chose DHCP for wet54g’s IP address. & disabled security.
    Router assigned 192.168.1.107 to wet54g.

While bridge and laptop still connected as above, pinged wet54g successfully.
Used Web Server to access wet54g, Name and Password input panel appeared.
Kept Name blank, entered “admin†(without quotes) as Password.
Name & Password input panel appeared again, entered same info 2 more times, unable to gain access to wet54g web server.
Reset wet54g, tried again to access wet54g via web server, same results as before – no access.

    Disconnected laptop cable to router.
Connected wet54g to laptop via cable, to put wet54g in wireless mode.
    Unable to ping wet54g.

Switched router off, restarted it to force renewal of IP addresses.
wet54g no longer listed in router’s DHCP table.
Wet54g unable to connect with router.

Any help/advice GRATEFULLY accepted, thanks. I'm also going to send this info to Linksys.

The joys of setting this up.

I have 3 WET54G's and the setup software would not even recognize the bridge. I called technical support and we were able to get the Web setup using the IP address although I could not log in. What I found out (on my bridges at least) is that the username is "admin" and when I use that I was able to get in and configure using the Web Browser setup screen.

I was able to connect after setting up using the Web Browser although my bridge would be intermittent in connecting and on the status screen it would indicate scanning for channel. I changed my AP from auto to channel 11 and am using WPA AES security and it connects.

As a side note, I have not had success connecting with TKIP. It connects and drops out as does my print servers as well. AES is a stronger incription and my other devices support AES so that is fine with me.

Hope this is of some help.

I have the WET54G and still have problems with it

I have the WET54G connected to a WRE54G then that is connected to the WRT54GS.

Sometimes the WET54G would stop connecting to the WRE54G. I don't know why. I would have to type in the IP addy of the WET into my browser, and just hit the "apply" button and the WET would reset itself and I would then get internet access.

I don't know why it drops the connection. Sometimes it would drop the connection twice in one hour, sometimes not for a 24 hour period.

    Scanning...

having the same problem. using WEP with directional antennae for a long-distance bridge. before it drops / disconnects, signal strength is up at 90%. After disconnect it seems like the whole WEP radio is thrown off, needs to be rebooted. (the site survey results only shows the target AP at 25% signal, I think those refer to different things). Locked on a fixed channel (11). Let me know if anybody has any ideas to this issue...

I had this issue also. Enter admin for password and name.

    Re: Scanning...

I was having similar issues. I have since found that the site survey signal figure is a signal to noise ratio, so even though you may be getting a high "link quality" according to the status section of the web interface to the WET54G, the site survey section of the interface is telling you (under the "signal strength %" column) that either the signal is too weak or the noise is too high (or some combination) such that your overall signal is very weak.

I also had this problem. I found a suggestion in another thread to reduce the transmission rate. Using the web interface under the Advanced section, I lowered the "transmission rate" down one step at a time. I finally found a rate that seems to make the bridge happy and the problem has gone away.

Try rebooting the router (shut down 5 seconds and reconnect the electricity)

    it works to me
