I just used the antenna assigning features in Alchemy Final and that did the trick for keeping my signal received at my IBM T40 at 100 percent with no fluctuation!!!! I have the left as transmit and the right as receive. Drop-outs seem to be a thing of the past as well. I have my antennas facing away from each other at 180 degrees. This seems to be the best coverage configuration for me, anyway.

    This is impressive!

I also have my Xtmit from 28 (the default setting) upped to 38.

If anybody is still using the default firmware, I highly suggest you try Alchemy. The antenna splitting feature alone is worth it!

Two upright antennas give inferior performance.

As a final test of best antenna positioning, after writing the above, I returned the two antennas to the normal side-by-side, upright position. I got inferior performance as soon as I got back to check on my lap-top. I then faced them out flat from each other, and all software-driven guages returned to 100/100 % signal perfomance with SPEEDBOOSTER staying at 125 Mbits.

    Give it a try!

Alchemy Sucks DD-WRT Rules Way more Bug fixes and it is based off of Alchemy.

I don't know about that....my WRT54GS is kicking butt since I went over to it... The ability to assign each antenna its own function in my opinion is one of the hot shots. I wonder why Linksys did not allow for this choice in their firmware. Oh well.....

DD-WRt can do all of this also. It also has way more features than Alchemy. It is more stable than Alchemy also. DD-WRT can do everything that alchemy can do but better.
