What can I use besides Windows to manage my wifi?

I have a WUSB11 v2.8 and it disconnects all the time. I use WEP, not WPA, and my signal strength is always excellent. The problem is that when it loses its connection due to interference the windows wifi management utility crashes causing the computer to need to be restarted.

I also have a laptop with a zyxel PCI card and that machine is running a custom zyxel wifi management utility (i.e. "Use WIndows to manage your connection" or whatever is unchecked.)

I would like to do something similar with this machine. What can I install that will work with this Linksys adapter that will allow me to bypass windows?

    Thanks!
