What happened to VI editor in prefinal4?

    vi was removed to save space, BrainSlayer is considering putting it back in the future...

    Are there any other editors that I can install via ipkg?

    Well with a nice shiny new /jffs you can copy vi from an earlier version and run it from there.

    I copied it to /jffs and run it like this after changing permissions:
    ./vi
    And it works

    I would love to do that if I had a new shiny /jffs. Sure would make things nicer. It would also be nice to change the ipkg.conf file to be a symlink to a file we could configure. Then we might be able to get packages installed without having /jffs available. (which it is not with "G" routers running full)

    vi

    You could also put vi on an NFS share and mount it via samba. Only problem I have with that is samba is very chatty to justify using it just for vi.. =)

    VI is in the pre5 release
