I want to connect two wired lans with two WRT54G (in fact one is WRT54GS, but i don't think it does matter). The distance is 1,7 km, I'm using 120 sm dishes for anntennas and DD-WRT for firmware. The problem is that with WDS they get maximum 1 mbit/s when testing in one room (10 m distance). Is there another way of connecting them? I'm not using WAN(internet) ports of two devices, I just want to use wireless of WRT54G(s). There will be mod with Fans, for cooling down the devices ...

    So the picture is: - LAN1 - WRT54G(s) ~~1.7 km (~1 mile)~~ WRT54G(s) - LAN2

Every LAN1 and LAN2 PC will use the for gateway ...

The slow speed is probably simply due to the distance between the routers. What is the RSSI for your WDS link? (Status > Wireless page)
