I have always used the normal tomato build. What is this ND build? My router is a WRT54GL 1.1 . Are there benefits to using it over the normal tomato build?

I'm sure I'm just overlooking things. But it is very hard to search for the meaning of a 2 character acronym.

"ND" means "new driver". Although my router qualifies for ND I don't use it, as 1.25 runs without problems. Search the forum for wlan_corerev and find out if you want to use it...

If you just page down you'll find several recent threads on this subject. If you have any Intel clients, or other wireless cards that are giving you problems associating, then you will find it may be a cure.

Information on what it does and other stuff here:
